Dallas Parks and Recreation opened new fitness circuits at two sites this spring, giving residents pull-up stations, dip bars and agility ladders along paved paths without any entry fees.
The expansion comes as summer temperatures climb above 90 degrees most days and more people seek outdoor options after indoor gym memberships rose 12 percent citywide between 2024 and 2025.
One circuit sits inside Klyde Warren Park along Woodall Rodgers Freeway, where eight pieces of equipment line the 1.5-acre lawn near the food truck park. A second set of stations occupies the south shore of White Rock Lake at the intersection of Garland Road and East Lawther Drive, adding a 0.8-mile loop with eight stations spaced every 200 yards.
At Klyde Warren Park the circuit includes two pull-up variations, a leg press bench and a row machine installed in April 2026. The White Rock Lake route added parallel bars and a balance beam in May, placed next to the existing 9.4-mile trail that circles the reservoir. Both locations stay open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily under Dallas Parks rules.
City records show 1.8 million park visits in the first half of 2025, a 22 percent jump from the same period in 2023, with fitness equipment areas accounting for 340,000 of those visits. No membership or reservation is required at either spot.
Visitors can reach the Klyde Warren circuit by DART light rail at the St. Paul station or by parking along Ross Avenue. The White Rock Lake stations sit a short walk from the parking lot at 8000 Garland Road. Morning sessions before 8 a.m. avoid peak heat, and water fountains operate at both parks year-round.
Check the Dallas Parks website or call 311 for any temporary closures before heading out.
